Affordable Housing Coalition Hosts
Successful Summit
The Affordable Housing Coalition of Southeastern NC recently held its 2008
Summit, which covered topics such as foreclosure prevention, green
building, universal design and safety in our neighborhoods. Homes4NC
helped make the Summit possible through a $2,500 matching grant to the

About 80 percent of low-income houses built by groups such as Habitat for Humanity and subsidized by a state housing program come equipped with features such as efficient appliances, heat-blocking windows, high-grade ducts and snugly installed insulation without gaps or breaks.

Foreclosures Reduce Neighboring Property
Values
Entire neighborhoods are being impacted by rising foreclosures, said Chris
Kukla of the Center for Responsible Lending on a recent bus tour in
Greensboro. If your house is within a quarter-mile of a home lost to
foreclosure, your home's value decreases $2,000 on average in Guilford
County.

The National Association of REALTORS®
and the U.S. Conference of Mayors recently designated Asheville and five
other cities as 2008 Ambassador Cities. The Asheville Board of REALTORS®
is a key member of a task force working to create an affordable housing
plan for Asheville.
